Ghost Bay Kite Story

a magical place, in a hidden, unique area.

Surrounded by nature is Ghost Bay Kite located in the South of Safaga – the sea, the mountains and the desert let you dive into pure Mother Nature.

To finding a name for this area, what describes the feeling what you get while staying with us, was our challenging exercise.

At the beginning of our brainstorming process, we agreed that we want to call “the child by his name”. Weren’t based in the center of high life.

We’re surrounded by something, what makes every kiter heart beating faster - a windy Kite Paradise.

Me (Ahmed) I grew up in Safaga. As I’m growing up we went often to the Ghost Beach, around 15 minutes far from the centre of Safaga. It was something special, a public beach – where everyone has access to.

While I was thinking about a name for this place, I came to the point that I want to name it after something, which name have a meaning for me – and for my hometown Safaga. Where the local people will see and feel their memories. That their history over centuries can be found in that name. For their area and work that they keep this nature-based area beautiful as it is.

So, I choose to call it “Ghost Bay Kite” – and it can’t be fit more for this area connected with this unique Bay.

I hope you can dive in a bit into the story of these area, the bay and the Kite Place I built up.

To understand our Ghost Story more, we got in connection with people who are well known and want to tell you more about the Ghost Story and the Ghost City. So for less windy days we offer daytrips to the historical place of the Ghost City, to glide in to our historical area story.

If you stop and visit us, you feel that time has stopped here and you breathe the spirit of old times and the Kite Paradise.

Ghost City

  • The city has been abandoned since 2000. Everything useful, like wood, steel and housing facilities, were taken and the “Lost City” was re-branded as a destination for visitors and tourists. Close to Safaga, a major port city on the Red Sea, intensive research was carried out starting in 1902 with the aim of finding raw materials in the Western Desert. Geologists were able to establish a very high proportion of phosphate, an important mineral, especially in the fertilizer industry.

  • Around you as if the groans and lamentations of its former inhabitants come from the walls. You can feel that you are a part of history. Journey into the past.

  • The old town located in the heart of the desert surrounded by mountains, but at the moment empty and abandoned. There are just ruins of the walls of houses remaining. If you stop and look at it, you feel that time has stopped here and you breathe the spirit of old times.
